SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Saint Mary's (2-5) got revenge on Sacramento State (2-6) in the team's first contest of the Golden Gate Invitational with a dominant 4-1 win. The Hornets got the better of SMC one week ago in a 4-3 decision but strong singles play by the Gaels would help flip the script in the Friday rematch.
Saint Mary's jumped to an early lead by claiming the doubles point. James Watt and Boris Reckow battled with Sac State's top tandem and came out on top 6-4 to get the ball rolling for the Gaels.
