SAN DIEGO – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis couldn't keep USD from Celebrating a WCC Regular Season Championship on their home court on Sunday afternoon, but still qualified for the conference tournament by virtue of Santa Clara's victory over LMU.
The Gaels claimed the sixth seed in the conference tourney after finishing the regular season at 4-5 in WCC play, while the No. 29 Toreros earned a first-round bye as they finished 8-1 to claim the regular season crown.
Carlos Ramos Membrives and James Watt got the SMC off to a good start, claiming the first doubles match 6-3.
