MORAGA, Calif. — In a non-conference match at Timothy Korth Tennis Complex, the Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team (6-14, 1-5 WCC) forced four singles contests to go the distance, but eventually fell to nationally-ranked No. 49 UC Santa Barbara (13-5, 1-0 Big West) Sunday afternoon.
The Gaels dropped the first two doubles matches to give the Gauchos the early 1-0 advantage, but SMC rebounded nicely with intensity and grit in all six singles courts.
On court 1, Damon Kesaris forced a long battle against UCSB’s top player Nicolas Moreno. Kesaris dropped the first set, but bounced back with tremendous fight for the second set win, 6-4.
