PITTSBURGH — Back and forth they battled under the Monday night lights, but in the end it was Jake Rudel’s lone goal in the 73rd minute that earned the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team its second straight East Coast road win, defeating Atlantic Coast Conference member Pittsburgh, 1-0, at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The win makes Saint Mary’s (4-5-3) unbeaten in its last three matches (2-0-1) before opening West Coast Conference play on Sunday at Pacific. The Gaels are 4-2-1 in their last seven matches, including 2-1-1 on the road where they’ll play their first conference match against the Tigers in Stockton come Sunday.
