SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — An 81st minute goal by the Mustangs proved to be the difference maker in Sunday's afternoon contest between Saint Mary's and Cal Poly as the Gaels ultimately fell, 1-0. Saint Mary's moved to 1-2-2 on the season while Cal Poly clinched their first win of the year and improved to 1-4-0. The Gaels nearly tied the match in the 90th minute when sophomore midfielder Jakub Svehlik carried the ball deep into the Cal Poly penalty box but was called for a foul near the six-yard line to spoil the threat.
