MORAGA, Calif.— After a road trip across the country where the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team outdueled then ranked No. 17 West Virginia, 2-1(OT), and Pittsburgh 1-0, the Gaels will now open up West Coast Conference play on Sunday against a tough Pacific squad at Knoles Field.
SMC (4-5-3, 0-0 WCC) battled through a pair of tough opponents on a very difficult road trip. Thanks to a pair of goals by Frederick Karman, with the game-winner five minutes into the overtime period, the Gaels upset the Mountaineers, 2-1. Saint Mary’s continued its momentum in a tough battle at Pittsburgh.
