MORAGA, Calif. — After a long fought battle in the scorching heat that reached past triple digits, the Gaels (1-0-2) tied the match, 3-3, versus Detroit Mercy (2-0-1) in the second draw of the season Saturday afternoon.
The Gaels got off to strong start with the first goal lead by sophomore forward Joseph Restani. In the first half of the match, both teams faced back to back goals from Detroit midfielder Adam Clauss, and Saint Mary's forward Jake Rudel. To end the period, Detroit forward Spiro Pilakos fired a shot to bind the half, 2-2.
