Saint Mary’s followed their first home loss with a 68-62 win Saturday night over LMU, but serious issues remain for a team that will be tested this Saturday at Gonzaga. With losses to BYU and now Pepperdine this month, the Gaels (20-4, 11-3) have slipped out of first place in the WCC for the first time this season.
On Thursday, Saint Mary’s looked to be in control of a Pepperdine team that handed the Gaels their first loss of the season back in January. The Gaels jumped out to an early 18-9 lead after going on a 10-2 run, but Pepperdine responded accordingly.
