MELBOURNE – The Saint Mary's men's basketball team focused on the tough task of Thursday night's game against Melbourne United during the fifth day of their foreign tour down under.
The Gaels faced the reigning NBL Champions at the State Basketball Centre in front of nearly 3,000 fans, but narrowly lost on a last second 3-pointer, falling 81-80.
After leading 44-40 at halftime, the Gaels went back and forth with the United down the stretch in the fourth quarter. With 17 seconds left, Jock Perry made a layup to put Saint Mary's up 79-78.
