Saint Mary’s was simply dominant last week against Gonzaga and Portland. With Thursday’s 66-47 win over the Bulldogs and Saturday’s 95-53 smashing of the Pilots, the Gaels (21-6,12-4) have hurdled over San Diego to share second place in the conference with Santa Clara.
On Thursday, Gonzaga jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before the Gaels quickly responded with a 7-0 run.
With both teams tied at 12, forward Devon Brookshire knocked down a three-pointer, igniting another 7-0 run for the Gaels and making it 19-12.
