MANARA, Ariz. -- After putting itself in a position for a top 5 placing through the first 14 holes, the Saint Mary's golf team struggled down the stretch and sits in 11th place after the second day of competition at the 2016 NCAA Tucson Regional.
The Gaels started off the 10th tee at Gallery Golf Club's 7,258-yard, par 72 North Course at 7 a.m. and proceeded to finish the back nine at just 2-over par. After making the turn, SMC finished the first five holes at 2-over before disaster struck.
SMC's five golfers dropped a combined 18 strokes over the final four holes to fall to 11th place overall at 22-over par.
