TOLEDO, Ohio — On the first day of the 13th Inverness Intercollegiate, Saint Mary's golf displayed a solid performance from start to end, finishing at 10-under par to lead the field after playing 36 holes Monday at The Inverness Club.
With a shotgun start to open the tournament, the Gaels ended the opening 18 holes in second place after shooting a 4-under 280. Trailing Michigan State by four strokes, SMC took over the top spot of the leaderboard in the early holes of the second round.
Saint Mary's displayed sound patience and strategy en route to shooting 6-under (278) par in the final 18 holes of the day.
