La Quinta, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's golf team moved up two spots on the leaderboard and claimed a head-to-head victory over sixth ranked Duke University as it finished in a tie for seventh place at The Prestige at PGA WEST.
The Gaels turned in a final round score of even par 284 to finish four strokes behind fifth ranked Stanford and six behind seventh ranked USC. SMC improved its team score in each of the tournament's three rounds with scores of 291-288-284 for a 54-hole total of 11-over par 863.
LSU ran away with the team title with an impressive 19-under par in near-perfect conditions in today's final round.
