GOLF | Gaels Comeback Falls Just Short in NCAA Regionals

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Behind by 11 strokes to start the final round of the NCAA Midwest Regional, Saint Mary's made a strong run to get as close as five strokes of fifth place, but ultimately ended the regional tied-6th at 21-over par.

UNLV secured the top spot in the regional with a final score of 8-over par. The Rebels won by three strokes despite shooting 11-over in the final round. Auburn (+11), New Mexico (+16), Illinois (+14) and Purdue (+18) round out the top-5 to make it through to the NCAA Championship. The Gaels would tie with Augusta for the sixth place finish.
