SAN FRANCISCO — Eduardo Carrete completed an impressive collegiate debut Tuesday with an even-par final round and a fourth-place individual showing, leading the Saint Mary’s men’s golf team to a runner-up finish at the USF Olympic Intercollegiate at the famous Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Carrete shot an even 71 Tuesday with three birdies to finish as the Gaels’ top finisher. Carrete was also even after two rounds Monday, including a two-under 69 in round two. The freshman was the third WCC finisher, trailing only individual medalist Riley Elmes of Loyola Marymount and team champion leader Rhett Rasmussen of BYU.
