The upcoming trip to the Pacific Northwest is sure of three things: intensity, rivalry, and a better grasp on who will capture the West Coast Conference men’s basketball regular season title, as Saint Mary’s prepares to take on Portland and Gonzaga.
On Thursday the Gaels head into Portland to face off against the 11-16 Pilots who are just 5-9 in league standings. Their record must not influence the intensity needed to produce a win, as the Pilots are an up-tempo team and, according to Gaels Head Coach Randy Bennett, house “one of the toughest places to play in the west.
