Chase Fischer scored 19 points, Kyle Collinsworth added 17, and BYU knocked Saint Mary's out of first place in the West Coast Conference with a 70-59 victory Thursday night in Provo, Utah.
With the loss, the Gaels (18-3, 9-2 WCC) fall a half-game back of Gonzaga (18-5, 10-2), which beat Loyola Marymount 92-63. BYU (17-7, 8-3) remains in third place in the conference. Collinsworth had nine rebounds and seven assists. Saint Mary's led 37-33 at the half, but BYU opened a nine-point lead after a 13-2 run -- punctuated by Fischer's 3-pointer -- early in the second half.
