SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team posted two victories Friday on the first day of the inaugural West Coast Conference Championship Tournament, as the Gaels earned a place in the final day of competition on Saturday at Ocean Beach.
The No. 4-seeded Gaels (15-5) beat No. 5 Pacific for the fourth time this season to start the day, winning by the same 3-2 score as all the previous matchups. Saint Mary’s then ran into No. 1 seed Pepperdine for the first time in 2016 and was narrowly defeated, 3-2, dropping it into the consolation bracket.
