STANFORD, Calif. — The first two matches of Stanford Beach Volleyball's annual Battle of the Bay, featured the Gaels (3-1), taking on the San Jose State Spartans (0-2) and the UC Davis Aggies (4-1). Both matches came down to the final flight, but the Gaels hung on to defeat both the Spartans and Aggies by 3-2 scores.
AJ Slojkowski and Karmin Brown got things going for the Gaels out of the four spot with a decisive 21-16, 21-18 victory, looking in control of the match from start to finish. The Spartans tied things up at one apiece, before Paola Peralta and Nya Crump rallied back from a second set deficit to earn a 21-10, 22-20 victory, and again put the Gaels ahead.
