SANTA MONICA, Calif. – During a full day of volleyball at the West Coast Conference Championships, the Gaels completed sweeps of both Portland and Santa Clara, but lost the middle match against Loyola Marymount.
In the first match of the day, all five Gael pairings defeated their opponents in straight sets. Sophomore Jennifer "Boo" Laird and freshman Chandler Cowell dominated and outscored their opponent 42-20 in the 4-spot. Seniors Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase held the Pilot duo to just nine points in the first set.
In match two on Friday, SMC fought hard with three of the five pairs taking their matches to three sets, but ultimately the Lions won 4-1.
