MORAGA, Calif. — Something eventually needed to break as the game went deeper into extras Saturday, and for the second day in a row it was Pepperdine who broke through first, getting a go-ahead two-run home run from Ben Rodriguez in the top of the 13th inning to clinch a West Coast Conference series victory with a 3-1 win in game two at Louis Guisto Field.

Rodriguez was 0 for 5 with two strikeouts prior to his at-bat in the 13th. But after Manny Jefferson reached base on an error, Rodriguez hit the second pitch he saw from Drew Strotman (3-5) far over the left field wall to put Pepperdine (25-20, 14-9 WCC) ahead for good.
