MORAGA, Calif. — Defensive prowess and offensive flare will lead the Saint Mary’s baseball team’s outfield in 2016, with three returners in the starting spots and even more experience behind them providing valuable depth.
Sophomore center fielder Joey Fiske and senior right fielder Anthony Gonsolin saw plenty of time last season for the Gaels, combining for 94 appearances and 71 starts in 55 games. The wild card returner in the outfield for the Gaels will be redshirt freshman left fielder Edward Haus. Haus redshirted last season but had an extremely successful summer, earning Most Valuable Player honors of the Hamptons League, and an equally productive fall to earn a spot in the starting lineup and at the top of the order.
