MORAGA, Calif. — One swing of the bat was all it took Tuesday for visiting San Jose State to take the lead for good, as a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning by Josh Nashed propelled the Spartans to a 4-1 win over the Saint Mary’s baseball team in a non-conference contest at Louis Guisto Field.

Nashed hit a two-out, two-strike pitch high to right-center field that split the Saint Mary’s outfielders. Neither SMC player was able to put a glove on it, as a bit of miscommunication allowed the ball to fall safely on the warning track, clearing the bases for the Spartans (16-33) and giving them a 3-1 lead.
