DURHAM, N.C. — Saint Mary’s junior second baseman Zach Kirtley has been named to USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list, joining 54 other players in the beginning of the process to identify the top amateur baseball player in the country for the 2017 season.
Kirtley adds the prestigious Golden Spikes Award watch list to his already long 2017 preseason resume. Kirtley was twice named a 2017 preseason All-American by Perfect Game and D1Baseball, and was included on this year’s preseason all-West Coast Conference team.
It is the second year in a row that Saint Mary’s has had a player on the Golden Spikes Award watch list.
