BSB | Kirtley Leads Gaels' Comeback On Opening Day

MORAGA, Calif. — On a day that traditionally exudes grandeur and pomp and circumstance for the Opening Day of the season, the gray clouds, looming rain and slow start Friday seemed to put a damper on the Saint Mary’s baseball team’s beginning to 2016. But the Gaels made it a good day with a late comeback, overcoming an early four-run deficit to win its first game of the season in a 10-5 victory over Seattle University at Louis Guisto Field.

Sophomore second baseman Zach Kirtley proved to be the hero for the Gaels (1-0) Friday, shaking off his own cold start early in the game to twice tie the score with RBI hits, then add insurance in the eighth inning.
