SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference’s head coaches expect the Saint Mary’s baseball team to continue to rise in 2016 after the Gaels posted one of the nation’s best turnarounds a year ago. Wednesday the Gaels were chosen to finish third in the 2016 WCC Baseball Preseason Poll, with two players named to the All-WCC Preseason Team.
Saint Mary’s (28-27, 10-17 WCC in 2015) received 56 points in the poll to come in third. Loyola Marymount (33-21-1, 16-11 WCC) also received 56 points with one first-place vote to tie with the Gaels for third.
