BSB | Five-Run Fifth Carries Gaels Past Nevada

RENO, Nev. — Saint Mary’s took advantage of six walks during a five-run fifth inning Tuesday to take the lead for good over Nevada and sweep the season series against the Wolfpack with an 8-5 non-conference win at Peccole Park.

The Gaels (16-10) only had two hits during its fifth-inning rally, including an RBI double by Nate Nolan. Their five runs broke a 3-3 tie after a flurry of runs in the first 1 1/2 innings put the teams right back where they started. Four of SMC’s six free passes in the fifth would come in to score, two of them on bases-loaded walks.
