MORAGA, Calif. — Turn away to check your phone or get up to go to concessions, and you might miss him. He’s that fast.
And you would probably be the only one missing it, as Saint Mary’s junior right-handed starting pitcher Corbin Burnes has been attracting quite a crowd this spring, and for good reason.
After two consecutive summers of substantial development and a successful 2015 sophomore year in between, Burnes has been cranking the dial up to 11 this season. His fastball that touches 97 mph and mix of breaking balls with a changeup to boot, all thrown for strikes, draw easily 30 professional baseball scouts – and their radar guns – per game.
