Before the Gaels’ road trip to Phoenix for the Grand Canyon University Classic, they traveled down south to take on UC Santa Barbara for a Tuesday afternoon affair. Saint Mary’s found themselves down 4-2 heading into the eighth inning, but they rallied for five runs in the inning to take a decisive 7-4 lead.
Saint Mary’s began the afternoon strongly. With two outs, the Gaels had the bases loaded after drawing three walks. Junior Nate Nolan singled home Edward Haus from third and Zach Kirtley from second, giving Saint Mary’s an early 2-0 lead.
