The Sacramento Kings are on the receiving end of another cold shoulder.
According to NBA.com’s David Aldridge, free agent Wesley Matthews has verbally agreed to join the Dallas Mavericks. Matthews’ decision comes less than a day after he visited Sacramento and was offered a four-year, $64 million deal, per ESPN’s Marc Stein. The veteran will earn less money in Dallas.
The rejection is a slap in the face for the Kings after clearing cap space to make room for bigger signings. On Wednesday, Sacramento traded Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, Nik Stauskas, a protected future first round pick and the rights to swap first round picks for another two years in exchange for undisclosed overseas prospects.
