Marvin Bagley is the most promising big man in the Sacramento era

Marvin Bagley did not enjoy an auspicious start to his time in a Sacramento uniform. In his four Summer League games, the second overall pick was granted 28 minutes per night, but averaged just 10 points and 6 rebounds, while shooting 33% from the floor. He looked outmatched and outclassed by a handful of fringe NBA players, and while many tried to reassure themselves that July games don’t always accurately project a player’s career, fears of drafting a bust were justifiably high within a fan base scarred with the selections of Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore, Nik Stauskas, and Georgios Papagiannis.
