Iman Shumpert’s time with the Sacramento Kings has thus far flown mostly under the radar. He missed the 2017-18 season with knee and foot injuries. After being traded to Sacramento as part of the deadline deal with the Cavaliers, Shumpert was shelved for the year. The Kings had no reason to rush him back and risk additional injury.
Shumpert has a player option on the final year that he will almost surely exercise to stay with the Kings. If he opts out he would be leaving $11 million on the table and testing free agency without proving he’s back from injury.
