The Sacramento Kings have announced that Gary Gerould will be the interim play-by-play announcer for the team’s telecasts on NBC Sports California. Gerould will replace Grant Napear, who resigned as the Kings’ play-by-play announcer in June after he was placed on administrative leave for his insensitive comments about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Gerould, or “G Man,” has been a broadcaster for the Kings for 35 season, primarily as the team’s radio voice. However, he also spent some time on the sidelines as their play-by-play announcer for Kings TV. Gerould’s first game back will be his first television broadcast since 1998.
