Anthony Carter rounds out Kings coaching staff

The Sacramento Kings officially announced their coaching staff this afternoon, listing George Karl, Chad Iske, John Welch, Vance Walberg, Nancy Lieberman, Corliss Williamson and surprise name Anthony Carter.

Carter was seen at the Kings practice facility during their July Summer League mini-camp, supposedly to “help out.” The 16-year NBA point guard was coached by Karl, Iske and Walberg with the Denver Nuggets from 2007-11.

While their relationships were a factor in his hiring, Carter is not wet behind the ears as an instructor. The 40-year-old served as an assistant coach with the D-League’s Austin Toros (renamed the Spurs in October 2014) for the past two seasons.
