Will the current dead period alter Rutgers football's recruiting momentum? | Hunt

Despite the negative recruitment its received from rival coaching staffs throughout the region after coming off a 2-10 year, the Scarlet Knights were flying high after picking up 10 commitments in June. But recently, the NCAA recruiting calendar called for a dead period which began on June 26 and will last through July 9.

The dead period is the most restrictive period for college coaches when it comes to recruiting, as no in-person contact is allowed, even if a prospect makes a visit to a college campus.

Although electronic and written communication is still permitted, it can be a daunting task for a staff to keep up any recruiting momentum its received throughout the usually-fruitful month of June, in which camps flourish.
