CLIFTON -- Paul James spent one year training for one day.
That day arrives Friday, when the former Rutgers halfback will take his make-up exam at Pro Day in front of NFL scouts who couldn't fully evaluate him in 2016 after he pulled his hamstring running the 40-yard dash.
"I tried to muscle through adversity," James told NJ Advance Media, "and by the time I got to the 3-cone (drill) it was really aggravated. I told the scouts I wasn't doing any of the drills. It was hard. That Pro Day is my only shot to show them what I can do before somebody calls me in or not.
