Why did Rutgers freshmen Johnathan Lewis, Bo Melton see mysterious cut in playing time?

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Just when it looked like two of the biggest names in Rutgers' 2017 recruiting class both had taken the first step toward stardom, quarterback Johnathan Lewis and wide receiver Bo Melton barely stepped off the sideline.

Fresh off of a five-touchdown performance (four rushing, one passing) that earned him Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors against Nebraska, Lewis took one snap Saturday in a 27-17 loss to Nebraska.

It made sense for Lewis to sit behind starting quarterback Kyle Bolin for most of the first half as Rutgers put together two scoring drives with Bolin.
