When Cole Murphy was informed he was going on scholarship, the moment wasn't orchestrated to go viral.
There wasn't a made-for-Twitter video commemoration. No clever ruse to deliver the good news. His Rutgers teammates did not dogpile on him in jubilation.
Instead, director of player personnel Adam Caltury told him he needed to meet with head coach Chris Ash. Murphy obliged, confident he had done nothing wrong, but not expecting what came.
"It wasn't going to be a bad conversation by any means, but I didn't really expect it to be the conversation," Murphy told NJ Advance Media.
