As summer workouts get underway, here's a little extra motivation for Rutgers courtesy of the Big Ten.
While there is no official Big Ten preseason football coaches poll, a look at Homecoming opponents scheduled around the conference typically provides all the insight needed into how teams expect the standings to shape up.
And no team was a more popular choice as Homecoming opponent than Rutgers, which will have a chance to spoil festivities at Nebraska (Sept. 23), Michigan (Oct. 28) and Penn State (Nov. 11).
It is standard college football practice for schools to designate a late September or October game as Homecoming, preferably picking a matchup where its team is favored to win in front of alumni looking for a reason to celebrate.
