Rutgers has offered three prospects out of each New York and Massachusetts so far for 2019. The Empire State is emerging as a major player in football recruiting and more players gravitate towards picking up footballs as opposed to just playing basketball, which the state is known for. Hence, the staff signed five players out of the Empire State in 2018. The staff hasn't historically been as active in Massachusetts but is off to a strong start with Worcester (Mass.) Academy three-star safety Zukudo Igwenagu.
Always a moderately talented, yet underrated football state, there are usually five-to-10 prospects of interest teams throughout the region look to recruit.
