What's Rutgers QB Giovanni Rescigno's relationship with soon-to-be challenger Johnathan Lewis?

PISCATAWAY -- Who was the best Rutgers quarterback on the field during the spring game?

Simple question. Complicated answer. First, define the boundaries of the field.

Unlike in years past where the spring game served as a referendum on the quarterback competition, there was nothing to be gleaned from Giovanni Rescigno's performance Saturday in leading the Scarlet team of first-teamers to 16 points with a very basic offensive game plan.

That's because the biggest threat to his starting job -- St. Peter's Prep star graduate Johnathan Lewis -- was on the High Point Solutions Stadium sidelines watching the game with other signed 2017 recruits just as he was for several spring practices.
