What’s decision-making like in the cost of attendance world? Penn State, Rutgers ADs discuss

PISCATAWAY – The business of evaluating the performance of college coaches seems to be getting trickier with every rule change.

In October 2014, the Big Ten became the first conference to stop the practice of renewing scholarships on a year-to-year basis in favor of a guarantee for the entire term of a student-athlete’s enrollment so long as good standing within the school, athletic department and community is maintained.

In September, cost-of-attendance stipends, which can vary by school, join the equation. At Rutgers, the amount of an athlete’s stipend will depend on his or her percentage of a full scholarship received.
