Andre Hunt, a former walk-on who played 21 games as a reserve safety the past two seasons, has been moved to linebacker this summer. In all, there are X linebackers in camp providing depth, including senior Isaiah Johnson, fourth-year junior T.J. Taylor, redshirt freshman Max Anthony, third-year sophomores Eric Margolis and Talib Abdur-Ra'oof and freshmen Solomon Manning, Rashawn Battle and Tyreek Maddox-Williams.

Asked for his assessment of the linebacker depth chart during spring camp, Jay Niemann was blunt. "It's a mess simply because we have lots guys that are competing, they're all trying to learn a new defense and right now we're just rotating guys through, trying to give them equal reps until we can figure out if there's a little bit of separation between guys.
