PISCATAWAY — Talk to any Rutgers player recruited by Jim Panagos and you're sure to hear universal praise for the defensive line coach.
Panagos has developed a reputation as the top recruiter on Kyle Flood's staff. The 44-year old Brooklyn native says the secret to his success isn't some innovative recruiting pitch. It's a much simpler approach that he learned more than 25 years ago as a star defensive lineman at East Islip High on Long Island.
"My high school coach told me a long time ago, 'The ability to listen is more important than the ability to talk,' " Panagos said.
