What does Miami's reported hiring of Mark Richt mean for Greg Schiano?

Things are picking up on the college football coaching carousel.

Wednesday has been eventful, with Miami and Maryland filling their openings. Miami made the biggest splash, reportedly landing former Georgia coach Mark Richt. Meanwhile, Maryland nabbed one of the hottest assistant coaches on the market, Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin.

Neither coach had been a serious candidate for the Rutgers opening, but the hirings could have a ripple effect that reaches Piscataway. Miami had been viewed as former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano's top preference.

With the Miami option eliminated, perhaps Schiano will give his former employer another look.
