OCEANPORT — On Saturday afternoon, Monmouth Park was painted Scarlet.
It was Rutgers Day at the Jersey Shore racetrack, as Rutgers officials, cheerleaders and the Scarlet Knight mascot mingled with fans.
It was part of the latest "R B1G Tour, as Monmouth Park offered free admission to anyone wearing Rutgers apparel and fans had opportunities to collect giveaways and take pictures with the Scarlet Knight mascot.
"You can feel the positive energy, the momentum we've been talking about,'' Sarah Baumgartner, Rutgers senior associate athletics director, said. "There's current students, there's recently graduated students, there's multiple generation Rutgers grads who have come out to celebrate and enjoy the summer, enjoy Rutgers Athletics.
