Ask Gary Rodkin to explain what inspired him and his wife, Barbara, to donate the largest gift in Rutgers athletics history and he can't pinpoint one thing.
It could've been the fact that he grew up aspiring to follow in the footsteps of his father, uncles and brothers who earned degrees from Rutgers.
Perhaps it was because he met Barbara in a campus library as a Rutgers undergrad. Maybe it was all the time they spent at Rutgers games, cheering on their Scarlet Knights in "the Barn'' and at the Philadelphia Spectrum as they made their miraculous Final Four run in 1976.
