PISCATAWAY – Steve Longa doesn’t often check his email, but when he did Tuesday night he found a pleasant surprise freshly awaiting him.
Longa, who left Rutgers football with one year of eligibility remaining, received an email inviting him to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, a prestigious annual showcase where top NFL Draft prospects are put through a series of physical and mental tests in front of talent evaluators from all 32 pro franchises.
“I was laying down on my bed and had just got done talking with my dad,” Longa said. “I decided to check my email for some reason.
