SEC lands record 10 teams in AP Top 25 college football poll | Keith Sargeant ballot

Ohio State remained the unanimous No. 1 by virtue of its convincing 42-24 triumph at Virginia Tech, but the Southeastern Conference landed a record 10 teams ranked in the first Associated Press college football poll of the regular season on Tuesday.

The SEC held the previous record for most teams from one conference in the AP Top 25 with eight, but after its teams combined to go 12-1 in the opening week of the season, the league landed 10 of its 14 teams overall, including all seven from the SEC West Division.

After three of its teams were pegged in the preseason Top 25, the Big Ten saw only two teams make it this week after Wisconsin lost to Alabama in the opener.
