Scott DelVecchio caps Rutgers career with 6th-place finish at 2018 NCAA Championships

CLEVELAND -- Scott DelVecchio entered the 2018 NCAA Championships "with no expectations other than to wrestle hard."

He left an All-American.

The two-time South Plainfield High state champion capped his Rutgers career by finishing sixth in the nation at 133 pounds Saturday in the medal round at Quicken Loans Arena.

DelVecchio dropped a pair of lopsided consolation bouts, 13-3 to N.C. State's Tariq Wilson in the wrestleback semifinal round and 10-1 to Oklahoma State's Kaid Brock in the fifth-place bout to finish the tournament, but not after a stellar run of five consecutive wrestleback wins put him in position.
